It’s nice to meet you
A perfect cup of coffee is like Bigfoot. Hard to find.
We grew up driving by 108 Lebby St on the way to Bargain Foods and baseball. It has been a fixture in our history, and the history of Pelzer. It was built in 1920 as the town doctor office and a soda shop. But when we found out it was for sale during the height of covid we didn’t know that, we only knew that we wanted to bring it back to life.
It was one of the few buildings left that existed during the abundance of Pelzer’s Mill Town. It had been abandoned after a prolific life as a mortuary, a masonic lodge, a barbecue spot, and a stint as a low impact gym. We wanted to honor the legacy of the building by tediously restoring it.
Luckily we love getting dirty- and our parents aren’t too decrepit to do some work.
While we worked on restoring Lebby, we fell in love with bringing more life and appreciation to Pelzer. Calle bought a house even older than Lebby St., and now serves on the Pelzer Planning Committee. We decided to keep our business family oriented, and hired mostly family to work alongside us.
We grew up in a huge family, so cooking for large groups and hosting crowds is in our genes. The younger of the Walters sisters, Calle, started her career in coffee over a decade ago - working at a newly opened coffee shop, The Village Grind in the Village of West Greenville. She has been active in the Greenville coffee community ever since, working at several well known shops since then. Kaitlyn started her love for cooking and baking at a very young age and pushed us to share our joined experience with the public. Her background in art shows through her creativity in new recipes. The sisters became dedicated to creating the best food, drinks, and space they possibly can through Cryptid Coffee. The rest is history.
